Bournemouth best of breed line up with bcc

Thank you to the Bournemouth Canine Association for the invitation to judge at what is my favourite champ show of the year, to my stewards Nev and Graham who kept things running smoothly and kept me on track with the paperwork! But most of all to the exhibitors for the chance to go over some real quality exhibits and for the sporting way my decisions were accepted. Temperament overall was good with just one or two who need to grow in confidence. Disappointed to see a little harsh handling in one or two classes and I would suggest that a little more training at home or at ringcraft before expecting a perfect performance at a show would be beneficial. Overall I found quality in depth in many of the classes and although type or style is diverse think the breed is in good shape.

Class 1896 MPD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 7021 LARGE Miss S D Meadowdale Riot Is Madaza
Head a little plain at present with eyes that need to darken. Good in front assembly with pleasing upper arm length and angle, well off for bone with good straight front. Makes a pleasing shape on the stack. Adequate rear angulation, good and deep in body at this age but hope he doesn’t grow much more. Moved soundly. Very well handled and presented.
2nd: 7031 OSBOURNE Mr P W & Mrs M P Braego Eight Letters
Preferred the head on this puppy with his deeper flews but again with eyes that need to darken and no doubt like the winner will with time. Not the front assembly of one but a pleasing puppy all the same with good depth and substance for his age, who will do better when he gains in confidence to carry his tail on the move.

Class 1897 PD (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 7033 SAVELL Ms C P Petranella Hot Gossip
Exuberant stylish puppy with a lot to like. Fabulous straight strong front with the tidiest of feet you expect from this kennel. Moderate angles fore and aft, good deep body and very sound on the move carrying his tail perfectly. Short and strong in hock. Lovely chunky bum. Pleasing head but to nitpick would like more depth of foreface to balance with his strongish skull but there is time for that to develop. Best Puppy and pleased to see him shortlisted in a strong puppy group.
2nd: 7038 SHOVEL Mr M. J & Mrs J.V Tiverstone Chorister Boy
Another quality puppy who pushed one hard. Pleasing in front assembly with a good length to his upper arm, and acceptable angles at this age. Again tidy feet, well off for bone and better in rear angulation than the winner of this class, with lovely short hocks and a good width to his quarters. Loved his balanced head with his super dark eye, he moved soundly enough but without the confidence of 1 which cost him the class. When he learns to love showing he will surely be one to watch out for.

Class 1898 JD (3 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 7008 DUNSDON, Ms T & WOODBRIDGE Mrs C Seaspring Shipwrecked
Loved the head on this boy with his deep flews, correct eye shape and colour with their melting expression; a good amount of work in his head. Good reach of neck into well angled shoulders, good forechest, good straight front but would prefer tidier feet. Rear angulation a plenty, to nitpick would prefer shorter hocks. Didn’t quite sparkle on the move but sound enough and presents a pleasing picture.
2nd: 7011 GEDDES Mr & Mrs A Tryhard Privateer At Debanza
Pleasing youngster with a good head eye and expression, but not quite the angles of the winner and a little proud of his tail on the move. Better feet than 1 and stood on good strong limbs.

Class 1900 PGD (10 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 7039 SHOVEL Mr M. J & Mrs J.V Tiverstone Kingston Black
Super black and white who is quality all through. Loved the balance and strength of his head with a good width to his muzzle and depth to his flew, correctly shaped eyes which are of course dark as you like. Super straight front with the tidiest of feet, pleasing amount of bone. Good depth through the body which I found balanced in length and just the right amount of rib. Good width to his hindquarters with pleasing angles and those lovely short hocks that i was looking for. Sound on the move. Headed a very nice class of boys.
2nd: 7044 STEVENSON Mrs E & Mr R Gaolachcara Somhlth
Another dog out of the top drawer and on first glance thought he would be my winner. Darkest of eyes in a pleasing head which had correct deep flews and a good width to the muzzle, although a little strong in backskull which was the decider in this class. Excelled in forechest and front assembly, pleasing neck length, good depth and body length, would just like a little more width to this quarters and a tad more angle, moved soundly with a well carried tail. Presentation excellent as you expect from this kennel. Beat a dog who pleased me for type and style in:

1st: 7052 TOPLISS Mrs T E Petranella Perfick Choice for Beresford
A dog that excels in so many areas. Balanced expressive head, male enough without a hint of coarseness – my notes say “glorious”, strong limbs and very neat feet, elegant in neck flowing into shoulder/upper arm length and angles that I couldn’t fault, good for depth of body, has strength in forechest; superb in hindquarters with the width and angle that pleased immensely. Tail well set on and moved very soundly and stylishly. The only thing I could hope to change is a little more fill to the ribs behind the elbows – his other qualities far outweighed this and he had to head this class of very nice boys. Considered for the RCC.
2nd: 7015 GRAY Mr N W & Mrs S S Trimere Talk It Up
This lad has improved so much as he has matured and took me by surprise just how much i liked him. Pleasing head with eyes of good colour and shape, good length of neck into well angled shoulders, nice and deep in body and well sprung ribs, not quite as balanced in body length as winner but found his quarters pleasingly well angled and neat short hocks. Standing on strong limbs with very tidy feet. Stylish and sound on the move although giving his handler a hard time on the stack, beautifully present in tip top condition. Beat a well made quality dog in:

I may run out of superlatives to describe this dog. Words like “Impressive, quality, complete, glorious” came into my head when i first went over him. Beautifully balanced head with the darkest eye of perfect shape, giving the kindest expression. Neck of good length which flowed into as good and refined a well angled shoulder as i saw all day, excelled in upper arm length and angle, also in forechest which filled your hand. Body was deep and balanced in length to height ratio. The right amount of bone on good straight front limbs which finished in tidy neat feet. Pleasing in rear angulation and hock length. Tail well set on and used to good effect on the move. His movement was both sound and stylish – coming, going and in profile. Presented in tip top condition and well handled to show off his many attributes. CC, BOB and delighted to watch him achieve a thoroughly deserved G2.
2nd: 6998 CORBETT Mrs A E Sh Ch Trimere Thriller
A beautifully made dog of fabulous type. He has a super head which is deep in flew and balanced muzzle to skull which shows plenty of work. Kindest eye of acceptable colour and good shape. Elegant in neck into correct front assembly, another who excels in length and angle of upper arm. Strong well boned forelimbs with neat correct feet. Good rib and depth, super rear angulation and hocks well let down. Could watch him power round the ring all day – his profile movement was the best all day with his excellent reach and drive. His only crime today was to meet a dog on top of his form and so had to settle for the RCC. Beat a dog whose balance and angles placed him:
