Thank you and well done to all the exhibitors on keeping your dogs so clean and rain free in what were truly terrible conditions. I had some lovely, quality exhibits and it was an absolute honour to judge them. However that aside I feel I must make a general comment on lack of muscle and fitness on so many of the dogs. You really could see the difference in movement of a fit dog compared to a dog that had little muscle. Also of breed specifics, almond shaped, dark hazel eyes were certainly not the norm. From the initial look round the ring to a dog that took my interest I was so disappointed on many an occasion to find round, yellow eyes staring at me, not that lovely soft, kind expression we should all know and love.

8 month b/w boy coming along nicely, lovely eye and expression, good length of neck and well bodied for age. He moved soundly and steadily.
2nd: 2985 KIRK Mr P, Mrs S M & Miss C A Laceby Jack In The Box
Another b/w boy showing a lot of promise, just needs to come out of himself and understand this showing lark. Good shoulders, lovely spring of rib and liked his short hocks. Just moved a little erratically, time will be his friend.

11 month l/w/t dog beautifully presented. Super neck and shoulders, wonderful spring of rib and length of hock. Won this class on his topline when moving and strength of rear.
2nd: 3016 TOPLISS Mrs T E Peasblossom Escape To Beresford
Very mature boy, appealing on the stand. Lovely head and eye shape was just inclined to drop his topline on the move slightly and waved his front coming towards me.

Super eye colour on this young boy, his head is coming along nicely Well boned on good, round compact feet. Lovely length to height, short hocks, he moved soundly fore and aft.

Time will be this young dog’s friend as he is at the in-between stage of maturity. Would have preferred a darker eye.

Lovely honest sort of dog, nothing flash, what you see is what you get. Nice and chunky at almost full maturity. Lovely kind eye. Really good front, moved soundly but would liked to have seen more “oomph” from him.
2nd: 3017 TOPLISS Mrs T E Rianlas In the Black at Beresford
The shape of this dog on the stand was just my cup of tea. Not an awful lot to fault on him really, fits the standard well with super bone, moved beautifully on the side gait and then played silly beggers with his backend.

First word that I wrote standing in front of this boy is “Gorgeous” And he is. Super head, muscular neck and excellent shoulder, super bone, good deep, well developed chest. His topline stayed firm and level at all times. He has true Springer movement swinging from the shoulder and driving from a wonderful rear. I could have watched him move all day. He asked for the CC – and he got it. BOB. Congratulations.

I thought this b/w dog just lovely. A fabulous head with the most beautiful dark eye and such a kind, soulful expression. Super length of neck onto well placed shoulders. He certainly wasn’t helping himself or his handler on the stand but he moved well and very soundly.

My favourite class of the day. Some outstanding examples of the breed that were a privilege to judge. Such a disappointment that I couldn’t hand out more red cards and those who went cardless would on other days been in the frame.
1st: 2997 MITCHELL Mr & Mrs D Sh Ch Nord Barecho Hold Your Horses At Peasblossom
What a handsome dog and fully deserves the accolades he has previously won. Fully mature on straight, well boned legs. He is just lovely from his beautiful well shaped head and dark eye to his wonderful neck and shoulder, beautiful spring of rib and super back end. He moved straight and true with great length of stride, in really good, hard muscular condition. Beautifully presented. However a “Champion” fidget who gave his handler a really hard time! RCC.
2nd: 2959 CORBETT Mrs A E Sh Ch Trimere Thriller
Thought him to be my winner on first going round. Super outline and lovely size. Wonderful head shape but being picky would have preferred a slightly darker eye. Beautifully balanced and screams quality looking at him on the stand. Just loved watching his side gait movement, in really good condition.

Yummy is how I would describe her! Beautiful b/w bitch, loved her outline, she is just right for age. Her head shape is lovely with very dark, well shaped eyes. Lovely straight front on tidy, well shaped feet. Lovely spring of rib and broad, well shaped hindquarters. In gleaming condition, moved very soundly but without enthusiasm in the class although was much bouncier in the pup challenge. BPIB.
2nd: 2963 CUNLIFFE Mr G & Mrs J Calvdale My Girl Of Fallenleaf
L/w/t, very pretty girl who took my eye on the move lovely reach and drive for one so young. Would like her with a darker eye, but time is on her side. Certainly gave 1st a run for her money. Similar comments apply, will watch her with interest.

What a pretty girl, such a lovely head shape and her body was so well proportioned. Well off for bone, good length of neck into well laid shoulders, firm topline. Lovely bend of stifle without being over angulated, in good firm condition, coming along really nicely.

Another attractive girl on the stand who catches your eye, super feet, very similar comments to 1, would like her eye to darken and maybe a little more positive on the move but certainly one to watch as she becomes older.

Moved the better of the two with more control, power and length of stride, keeping her topline well at all times. Has time on her side as I imagine in a year or so she will be challenging the big girls. Feminine head. Handled well, and presented beautifully.

This bitch is quality from her nose to her tail. I just loved her. She caught my eye on first going around and she certainly didn’t disappoint on further examination. So well balanced and the most lovely shape not just on the stand but on the move too. She had a real shower’s attitude and I loved it. One of the best heads of the day with a lovely tight, dark, almond eye shape. Nothing flashy or over the top with this girl, just a lovely standard shape, exaggeration does not exist. Lovely length of neck into good clean shoulders, super well sprung ribs, really well presented and a pleasure to go over. Congratulations on the CC, she certainly deserved it.
2nd: 2952 BROUGH, Ms C & WALKER Mr P Riselawroad Blue Braid
Another quality girl who certainly catches your eye with her outstanding movement, a little more control would have been to advantage. In excellent hard muscular condition. She has many qualities to admire but I think is one of those dogs who hands on impresses even more. Really nice head shape and a lovely straight, well boned front. Can’t wait to see how this one matures because she should have a really bright future.

Just my cup of tea, she won this class on her super sound movement and really knew how to use those lovely muscular, broad hindquarters. At full maturity she presented a really standard, quality picture, free from exaggeration. Her head is well proportioned, front is straight and true, good shoulders onto a lovely spring of rib, considered her for the RCC.
2nd: 2961 CORBETT Mrs A E Trimere Tantrums And Tiaras
This beautiful l/w/t bitch has a head and eye you could stare at all day. I loved her make and shape, she has elegance without losing any bone or breed fundamentals. Didn’t put her all into her movement. Beautifully presented and handled.

This beautiful liver bitch is an absolute picture on the stand, you really couldn’t ask for more. Going over her everything just flows from her feminine balanced head to her super front, feet, spring of rib and length of body. Presentation and handling were first class but her “whatever” attitude let her down in the challenge. Such a pity. RCC.
