Although I have not retired from judging, I decided that this would be my final appointment in the breed I have been associated with for over 30 years. It was appropriate that it would be the Scottish Breed Club. Secretary, Kerry Simpson and his Committee organised a very enjoyable and atmospheric show with the ladies supplying a sumptious array of home made goodies.I had a super efficient steward in Morag. My thanks to the Club in presenting me with a lovely engraved photo frame and also a wonderful scroll compiled by Bob Nicolson that listed the sixteen Ch. Shows judged complete with CC and Res.CC winners. They will be treasured. You may think that an entry of 48 dogs is not really representative of the breed but, I had lots of quality present. Sadly, the wet winter seems to have taken its toll as several were lacking in muscle tone and some pleasantly plump. Sadly, I feel we are losing the true breed expression with bland heads, round and light brassy eyes in evidence. Also regarding size. Especially in males - the Breed Standard states "app 20" - some exhibitors manipulate to interprate that approximately means 1" either side of the 20". Masculinity does not necessarily mean size.!

1st Donaldsons' Donarden Star Attraction At eight years old, he is still retaining many of the qualities I recognised when I last judged him. Nice and compact with super balance. Great head qualities with dark, correct shape eye and chiselling. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders. Well bodied with good depth. Excellent hindquarters. Just a tad short in coat. Moved soundly with good drive.

Good spring of rib and depth.Another who played his handler up!. Found it hard to believe that he is the sibling of the Junior B. Winner.

1st Topliss' Beresford Special Delivery I must admit I found lots to like about this handsome lad. Correct size and good and compact. Great balance and shape. He excels in head properties and has the most appealing dark eyes and expression. Good topline and well boned with tight feet. Well muscled quarters. In great condition. Very sound with good drive.
2nd Lockharts' Chetruda Secret Asset Another upstanding dog who I found to be heavier in head than my winner. However, he has an excellent reach of neck into well laid shoulders. In a well presented coat and well feathered. Excellent depth of body. In balance with a good shape. Sound in movement.

1st Warreners' Waterswarren Willy Wonka When I awarded this flashy Adonis the Res.CC I thought his handler had found the "Golden Ticket"! He excels in a reachy neck and has a good spring of rib. Excellent well muscled quarters. Immaculate presentation and super condition. He really covered the ground with drive and soundness.
2nd Rawdings' Dukedel Dream Of Mine Could have been my winner but a bit "sloppy" in movement. I loved everything about him as he is completely my type. 1st Nicholsons' Lochindorb Chief O'The Clan ShCM His first show at six months was under me and I then stated that I could take him home with me! Special Beginners Dog (1)
1st Drinkalls' Mompesson Tribute to ESScroft Nice type of L/W/T who I found to be rather bland in head and round in eye. Good neck and shoulders and he is well off for bone. Compact with a good outline. Just carrying a tad too much weight. Well presented. Not so positive in movement.

Veteran Bitch (2)
1st Sh Ch Melverly Sublimity There have been so many superlatives attributated to this gorgeous girl that I feel I cannot add to them!. Here she was at eight years old, in the peak of maturity. I had already missed out on judging her at a previous show, so it was an ambition achieved to get my hands on her. It was like Ray giving me his last Malteeser!!. All I can say is - she is stunning to go over. Presentation was superb and she looked a picture. It is a miracle that Ray does not suffer from ulcers as she can be such a diva but, today she pulled out all the stops a ND gave a flawless, charismatic performance on the move. BV, CC and BIS.
2nd Sh Ch Elimvek Early Landing at Lossiedoon It was spontaneous applause that greeted " The Dolly Sister" and so well deserved as this beautiful 10 years old is still a picture of elegance and type. So full of quality and shown in great condition and presentation. She really has a wonderful head and melting expression. Excellent quarters with neat hocks. Really looking so well and fit and very stylish in movement.

The sweetest of heads, although eye needs to darken this should come later. Loved her sweep of neck into well laid shoulders. Good bone and tight feet. As ever, from this kennel, in lovely condition and presentation. Needs a little more confidence but once she settled down she was very sound and had good drive in movement. B.P.I.S.

Post Graduate Bitch (7, 1a)
1st Ganarins' Berkenbar Gabriella A most stunning beautiful lady who appealed to me immensely. An absolute picture in stance with a gleaming coat and immaculate presentation. So balanced and very satisfying to go over. Has all the essential head qualities and dark eye with a soft, melting expression. Well muscled reachy neck into well laid shoulders. Deep chest and good spring of rib. Good rear angulation. Moved so freely and soundly.
2nd Houses' Dukedel Whatareturn to Gleadsbury So close up to the winner as she reminded me of my breeding especially the lovely Jus' Jessica. Sired by my CC winner, he has passed many of his qualities on to her. Super type and of correct size. Overall, so feminine. Very appealing head with dark eye and kind expression. Compact and balanced. Christine- where have you been hiding this gem? Like her sire, I could take her home. So exuberant in movement which just failed her the class.
