A super quality entry – in fact I would go as far to say this is the best quality entry I have ever had the pleasure of judging in the UK. Faced with a Minor Puppy dog class of quality – all of a good size and type, good in eye and expression, and all reasonably good on the move, came as a pleasant surprise. However, this seemed to set the scene for the day – in most classes anyway. Never before have I been in a position where I could have quite happily have awarded CCs to 5 males and 6 females – on today’s performance, so in may cases decisions made were very close. How then, in such a quality entry, could I possibly award a puppy the CC and BOB? I think it is termed “judging dogs”, and immature in some ways he may be, Trimere Thriller is just that!! A stunning young man, and I felt on the day he just ticked so many boxes he just demanded my attention! I’d go so far as to say when he had filled all the boxes, he just sent a tingle down my spine. Previously I have stated in my preamble that it is difficult to remark on the state of the breed from an entry – one does not know how representative that entry is. Today however, was different – representative or not, I felt quality was there in abundance, and this augurs well for the future

1st PEASBLOSSOM CHANCE (MR D & MS J MITCHELL & BEATON)
Quality dog. Masculine head which is nicely chiselled, with a lovely eye and expression. Good neck into corrrectly placed shoulders. He has great body and depth for his age, stands on super legs and feet, and is well let down behind. Moved with good extension – and has fair forward reach. Just hope he doesn’t grow on too much more
2nd PETRANELLA PERFICK CHOICE FOR BERESFORD (MRS T E TOPLISS)
Another quality puppy. Masculine in head with a super expression, good lay of shoulder. He is well bodied, with excellent bone. Another one who moved with reach and drive

1st TRIMERE THRILLER (MRS A CORBETT)
A stunning puppy! This very talented breeder has consistently produced quality ESS for many years, in my humble opinion, this one is the best! From his masculine head through to the tip of his tail he just screams quality and balance. Masculine, yet refined in headpiece, he looked at me just right – kind expression. He is so well made, super layback of shoulder, great return of upper arm, standing foresquare on great timbers. Great depth of body, well ribbed, with correct height to length ratio. “Movement is strictly his own” is a phrase in the standard that is so difficult to describe – watch this young man go and the standard comes to life. I had no hesitation in awarding him his first CC, and in the challenge for BOB his wonderful , wide open side gait just gave him the edge. Thriller by name – and Thriller by nature, just hope his super rich colouring doesn’t do as his famous namesake and fade with time. I’m sure it won’t – this one looks set for the big time!
2nd CHERISHYM BRIGHT KNIGHT (MR P & MRS Y RICHARDSON & TERRY-RICHARDSON)
Different style of puppy, but quite pleasing. He moves ok and was of good breed type. Just doesn’t want to grow any more

1st PLAIGLEN PERHAPS AT WADESON SHCM (MRS K WOODWARD)
Old fashiones sort. Good size, well laid shoulders, with fair return of upper arm. Good depth of body, nice height to length ratio and well boned. Precise in movement on the up and back
2nd CEPEN CHANGING PLACES WITH WATERSWARREN (MR P D & MRS V L WARRENER)
Different style, a little heavier all through. Masculine head, good layback of shoulder, very well boned. Presents a good outline, and can cover the ground, but today decided he would not play ball and this caused him to appear a little more untidy on the up and back than I know he is.

1st CALVDALE POINT OF LAW (MR & MRS M CALVERT)
Lovely type, as always from this kennel. A masculine head, yet refined, wit lovely expression. Good neck into well laid shoulders – he was balanced throughout. Super quarters, well let down in hock. He moves very soundly and today really covered the ground. Immaculately presented as always
2nd GLEADSBURY WHATACRACKER JW ShCM (MRS C A HOUSE)
One I have admired before. Well made all through, lovely head and eye. He has super well angulated quarters and really strides out on the move. Today was unsettled on the move, unfortunately. I still like him very much

1st TRIMERE TALKING POINT OF ALLENIE JW (MR A C & MR R P ALLEN & BOTT)
Quality young male, maturing so well. In my opinion has improved considerably since I last judged him. He was in immaculate condition as always, and presents a lovely outline. Pleasing head and eye, very well bodied. He is well let down behind, and has excellent bone and feet. Extends well on the move, and holds his outline. In the last cut for the CC
2nd CLEAVEHILL NORTHERN LIGHT (MRS D CONRAD)
Old favourite of mine. Pleasing in head, nice eye colour. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Well bodied, and correct height to length ratio. Well let down behind, he moves very soundly, covering the ground well. Just lacking some furnishings today

1st SH CH CALVDALE SOFTLY SOFTLY JW (MISS A CALVERT)
Super type. One I have often admired from the ringside. Masculine in head, with a lovely eye and expression. Excellent reach of neck, well laid shoulders, good return of upper arm. Great ribbing and depth, excellent legs and feet. Well angulated hindquarters, and low set hocks. He was in full coat and presented a super picture of balance and quality. On the move he is sound and has reach and extension. I always think the phrase “ a worthy champion” is rather patronising to those who have previously awarded the same dog top honours, suffice to say he wears his crown with great style Res CC
2nd MELVERLY FIRST GOLD (MR R J SMITH)
Super quality dog who I have admired before. Lovely eye colour. He excels in bone and feet, great body and depth, so well made all through. Today he really covered the ground with free easy strides. If justice can be done, he should wear his crown. A quality dog, in super coat today.
