I was genuinely humbled & honoured to judge this lovely entry, & thank all exhibitors for coping with the heat & taking care of their hot dogs; for me, two elements of the Standard, the head & movement, epitomise the uniqueness of our breed. I am a real sucker for a well balanced & chiselled ESS head with a soft expression that would melt the stoniest heart, but today many head shapes were varied &, even allowing for the effect of bright sunshine, eye colour was often lighter than the desired dark hazel; some exhibits moved agonisingly close behind, & a number showed way too much "daylight" between ribs & elbow. That said, many virtues were on show to be appreciated, leading to some thought-provoking & occasionally surprising decisions. A great thrill to select my CC & RCC winners from line-ups of beautiful dogs & bitches. Never was the wording on the RCC - "worthy of being awarded the CC should the CC winner be disqualified" - more apt, with all four principal winners more than worthy of their titles.

Great class to start the day, this 7 months L/W made an instant impression with his neat, strong, compact & balanced profile, ample bone, masculine head with nicely rounded skull & plenty of depth & length to muzzle, eye still to darken, everything about him from his sturdy neck & tremendous forechest, deep chest & correct length of loin, to his strong thighs & moderate bend of stifle was quality, enjoyed watching his driving movement, BPD
2nd: 2330 BRENNAN Mrs K Trimere Turning Point At Kerrijoy
8 months L/W/T, not as developed in forechest & loin as 1, but liked his size & compact shape, appealing head shape, deep in flew, correct length of neck into good shoulders, enough length of upper arm & depth of chest, hindquarters developing nicely, moderate bend of stifle, although can lose this & look a little short in body if handler doesn't position him properly, bit of a loon having great fun on the move, but all will come together with time

Very striking & strongly built 8 months L/W/T in shining condition, appealed for his racy outline & overall style, not so clean in throat as winners in MPD, a bit up on the leg & tall enough for age, but many attributes to admire including good length of neck, decent forechest, excellent depth of body & correct length of loin, firm topline & well set-on tail, pleasing head with plenty of scope to develop, eye could be darker, movement a little erratic
2nd: 2343 ELLIOTT Mr J W & Mrs B O Peasblossom Nemesis with Jonabar
8 months L/W, preferred his size to 1, compact shape, masculine balanced head with well shaped skull & plenty of depth to muzzle, just felt he needs time to develop more chiselling in foreface and eye to darken, strong neck of good length, correct front angulation, body is strong, deep & well ribbed, well developed thigh, slightly longer in loin than 1, at a "not quite together" stage today, which showed in his movement, should mature well

Was immediately drawn to this smart & gleaming B/W, lovely size with a neat & compact outline, combines strength & raciness in the right quantities, masculine & beautifully balanced head, with kind expression, eyes were glorious dark pools just made for gazing into, strong neck with slight arch, excellent front angulation, strong & deep in body, well sprung ribs, reasonable length of loin, more than enough bend of stifle, strong hindquarters used to advantage on the move
2nd: 2353 HAPPS Mrs A C Jorobaden Ballabrigas
L/W with much to like, similar in size & shape to 1, compact & strong with a touch of raciness, has all the essentials of a balanced & kind head, could be a shade darker in eye colour, strong neck, adequate depth of body, good ribs & length of loin, not quite the length of back of 1, moderate bend of stifle, strong in thigh, good to watch him moving with plenty of drive at the rear, not in his best jacket today.

I do admire a classy B/W, & this B/W/T certainly is that, let's get my one criticism - a little heavy in back-skull - out of the way first as it is improving with maturity & he has so many virtues, great size, compact, strong & racy in build, good length & depth of muzzle, kind expression with glorious dark eye colour, long, strong neck flowing into well constructed deep body, well balanced front & rear angulation, good length of loin, moderate bend of stifle, strong thighs, firm topline, could happily watch his powerful & effortless stride for hours, in contention for BD in superlative company.

Very pleasing L/W, a little heavier in build throughout with not quite the flow & raciness of 1, masculine & balanced head with muzzle to match, deep & square in flew, reasonable length of neck into decent forechest & well placed shoulders, deep enough in chest with plenty of rib, strong loin but a little longer coupled than 1, more than enough rear angulation & very powerfully built hindquarters which he used to drive round the ring.

1st: 2388 RAWDING Mr & Mrs R & R Dukedel Dream Of Mine
A pleasant "surprise" find, topping a class containing a variety of shapes & sizes, liked his overall size, compact, masculine & sturdily built, strong enough in head but would prefer a darker eye, sufficient length of neck, but would have liked a little more forechest & length of upper arm to compliment his layback of shoulder, deep bodied with good ribs, well coupled, really excelled in hindquarters & bend of stifle, strong driving rear movement, just a little wide in front
2nd: 2398 STEVENSON Mrs E & Mr R Gaolachcara Somhlth Sh.CM
Compact L/W, slightly taller & racier than 1, appealed for his honesty, balance & moderation throughout, masculine head with skull & muzzle in proportion, kind expression with reasonable eye colour, well boned, good length of neck, strong in front, body & rear with excellent width of thigh, at first glance thought he could be my winner, but couldn't match the condition & finish of 1 or stride out with the same style, moving a little close behind.

Fell for another B/W with good reason, compact shape combining strength & raciness, good size, well balanced head with plenty of work in it, glorious dark eyes, kind expression, strong neck with slight arch, well constructed in front with excellent forechest, elbows tucked in tight to deep body, well-ribbed, moderate bend of stifle, if I could add anything it would be a touch more length in loin to lengthen his back just a little, moved steadily with enthusiasm
2nd: 2364 JACKSON Mr & Mrs R & F Mompesson Blinkin Eck
L/W/T, slightly longer in back & loin than 1, standing over more ground, appealed for his strong & compact outline, different shaped head to 1 but still pleasingly masculine & nicely proportioned, just felt he needed a shade more stop, matched 1 in correct neck length & front construction, strong in body & ribs, good width in hindquarters, not over-angulated at the rear, moved with good front extension & drive at rear

L/W, headed a class that you either love or dread to judge, containing as it did 4 UK champions & 1 overseas champion, spoilt for choice but could not tear myself away from his outstanding profile, beautifully proportioned masculine & kind head, would prefer a darker eye but you can't have everything, lovely length of neck from which the rest of him flows so smoothly, without interruption or exaggeration, excellent front & rear angulation, strong deep body, big ribs, very well-coupled, powerful hindquarters, moved on an easy stride, topped off by a happy temperament, the honour of awarding him the CC was all mine, just flagged in the heat at the end of the day to finish BOS
2nd: 2379 MITCHELL Mr & Mrs D & J Peasblossom Jester
Previously & from the safety of the ringside have thought this L/W/T a little too "stylised" for me, so was very much put on the spot here only to find that he is maturing into a very classy dog whose overall strength & raciness appealed greatly, like 1 he has an irresistible outline, gorgeous head with the most captivating of expressions, slightly better in forechest than 1, again everything flows smoothly from his lovely neck into a strong, deep & well ribbed body, good length of loin & strong hindquarters, rear angulation is a tad more than "moderate", but he retains good balance, happy disposition evident in his animated driving movement, delighted to award him the RCC, the CC winner being just that bit more mature

B/W, at 9 years understandably showing his age in the grey around his muzzle, nice size, compact shape, handsome head, lovely dark eye & kind expression, strong in neck & bone, well constructed in front, deep body with well-sprung ribs, enough length of back, just looking a little tucked-up in loin today, great width of thigh & moderate bend of stifle, moved steadily but feeling the heat, can't say I blame him
