Midland ESS Society Championship Show - 5th November Judge: Mr Graham Osborne (Beaters)

'My sincere gratitude to the Midland Society for inviting me to judge together with thanks to the sporting exhibitors. Special praise go to my very efficient stewards. The say that the older you get the fonder your memories become. My fondness is for ESS to move soundly with drive, have balanced heads with the correct almond eye shape that is a dark hazel colour. To be symmetrically built with tight feet and moderately bent stifles. What is happening out there? I found too many untypical examples of round eyes together with light eyes, heads with prominent occiputs, over-angulated rears, sloping top lines and feet the size of the boxes they came in. Worst of all was the movement or should I say lack of it. I would like to think my winners all deserved their classes for having the correct breed attributes, although I was still disappointed with the movement of some'.
