Northern English Springer Spaniel Society held their 40th anniversary Ch show where BIS was Peasblossom Jester; RBIS, Petranella Just Perfick; & BP, Melverly Buona Notte.

It was a great honour to be invited & my thanks go to the committee & to exhibitors for their entries. I had an excellent steward in Mrs Margaret Jamieson.

Class 1 Minor Puppy Dog (4,1a)
1st Smiths’ Melverly Buona Notte
7 months well grown puppy dog. Very good outline for his age. Pleasing in head, kind expression. Good length of neck, well laid shoulders, firm topline. Well boned. Sound mover. BPIS;
2nd Corbetts’ Trimere Tidal Wave
just 6 months & very much a puppy. Super temperament. Very pleasing in head for his age, firm topline & good tail carrige. A bit unsettled in movement;
3rd Long & Leemings’ Tryhard Walter Raleigh

Class 2 Puppy Dog (1)
1st Crabtrees’ Roqfolly Black Label
11 months b/w. A young dog of good size. Good outline. Still young & needs plenty of time to mature. At the moment rather narrow in body. Firm topline. Good tailset. In good coat. Moved quite well.

Class 3 Junior Dog (1)
1st Happs & Marriotts’ Jorobaden Ballabrigas
a masculine young dog, well developed for his age. Balanced head & kind expression. Good reach of neck. Needs to develop in front. Good depth of body. Would prefer a bit more hind angulation. Moved well. Well presented.

Class 7 Undergraduate Dog (2)
1st Holts’ Melverly Missionaire to Bethryn
sound mover, still a bit immature. Good head & expression. Needs to fill in front, firm topline. In good coat. Well presented;
2nd Merry & Wrights’ Anacapa Just Jack
somewhat taller & rangier. Very pleasing in head & expression. Good reach of neck. A bit narrow in front. Deep body. Strong hindquarters. In good coat. A bit unsettled in front movement. Very good profile movement.

Class 8 Graduate Dog (2)
1st Topliss’ – Beresford Special Delivery
stylish young dog with a very pleasing outline. Good size. Lovely head & soft expression. Well developed body. Balanced angulation. Just need to develop a bit more in front. Sound mover. In good coat
2nd Traczs’ – Melverly Desert Strike over Acregate JW
another lovely dog. Well balanced though a bit heavier in body. Pleasing in head, very good neck & front. Deep brisket. Moved with a good stride

Class 9 Post Graduate Dog (8)

up to size, sound mover. Pleasing in head & expression. Good reach of neck, a bit long in loin. Firm topline. Well boned. Just needs to body up. Lovely temperament & well presented;
2nd Calverts’ Calvdale Zero to Hero JW ShCM
thought this dog would be my winner when he entered the ring. A stylish dog of very good size. Balanced outline. Well shaped head, very good reach of neck & well laid shoulders. Firm topline. Well boned. Did not settle & spoilt his chances on the move;

I was impressed by this dog, excellent outline. Masculine without being heavy. Lovely head & soft expression. Good length of neck, deep body, firm topline, well carried tail. In lovely coat. True Springer movement. RCC;

I was very taken by this dog, excellent type & outline. True Springer movement. Excellent conformation, balanced head, kind eye, very good neck & front, well developed body, good depth to the chest, strong in couplings, firm topline. Well boned & tight feet. In good coat. Well presented. CC & BIS;

a close decision as I liked this young bitch a lot. Smart outline. Nice head, just preferred expression of winner. Good reach of neck & good depth of body. Well boned. In good coat. Moved freely;

slightly taller, today carrying a bit too much weight & this somewhat spoilt her outline. Liked her head, well boned, tight feet. Super temperament. Not quite the movement of winner.
