DCC & BOB BERESFORD SPECIAL DELIVERY RDCC SH CH/IR SH CH MEADOWDALE CHAOS JW SHCM BCC ROQFOLLY BORN TO BOOGIE RBCC FLAMING WHIRLWIND OF MEADOWDALE BP PEASBLOSSOM OPHELIA

I thoroughly enjoyed my day with a super numerical entry with lots of quality & incredible sportsmanship in the most part, with continuous applause throughout the day. I found many differing types through the classes, with some alien heads & a lot of lighter than ideal eyes. Toplines were on the whole very pleasing, however, I found that exhibitors insisting on over-extending their dogs on the stack made their toplines, at times, resemble American Cockers! Movement & temperament, in the main, with a few exceptions, was very good.

1st PEASBLOSSOM POET (MR & MRS D MITCHELL)
at just 7 months is obviously raw but is absolutely brimming full of promise. For me, he scores in forehand, with good length & angle to his upper arm, for his age he also has good depth & enough length of rib, with a short & firm loin. He is correctly muscled & angulated, with no exaggeration. I particularly liked his strength of foreface, in balance to his backskull, masculine but with no hint of coarseness. Good for brow & chiselling, he has a kind & intelligent eye. I liked his extension & scope on the move if at times a touch untidy, he will sort himself out without doubt with age. He ran the older & more mature Puppy winner very close indeed in the challenge for BPD. I like him an awful lot.

Puppy - Dog Entries: 3 Absentees: 1
1st CALVDALE COSTA (MR & MRS M CALVERT)
another very promising youngster who scores in outline & balance, he is well ribbed, & has a firm & strong loin, very good depth to forechest, with sufficient heartroom & has enough length & a good angle to his upper arm. His head is masculine & refined too, extremely appealing, with good flew. He stands on strong legs, holds a firm & level topline when stood correctly. He is also well boned & has the desired flexibility to his pasterns, allowing him to move correctly & with purpose, which he did in the challenge to take BPD, narrowly, over an equally good minor pup. His future career should be interesting to watch;
2nd TRIXHUND TALKING OBSESSION (MR J & MR D M BULLOCK & LEWIS)
this youngster is extremely pleasing in profile action, but today I felt he was giving an awful lot away to the winner in terms of maturity & also finesse in headpiece, with a slightly lighter eye. I would also prefer a slightly better lay of shoulder. He moved true on the up & down, was well handled & put down in hard muscular condition.

Junior - Dog Entries: 3 Absentees: 1
1st TRIMERE TOTAL CHAOS (MISS S J CORBETT)
both extremely different in type here. I felt this winner was rangier & with more scope with a better layback of shoulder. I liked his head shape, but to be critical would prefer a softer eye shape. He was ultra-true coming & going & held a correct, level topline on the move, if when stood & over-stretched by his handler, this was indeed not the case! His long & well angulated upper arm allowed him to really reach out & extend in front on the move. He is particularly good from hock to toe;
2nd FREWORTH POLAR EXPRESS (MRS J V WHITWORTH)
another good one, with lots to admire. His topline is spot on, firm, both stood & on the move. His head is a touch stronger than the winner, & he is little throatier too. He was in tip-top condition, with good definition to second thigh, with clean & tight feet.

Yearling - Dog Entries: 4 Absentees: 1
1st TRIMERE TURNING POINT AT KERRIJOY (MRS K BRENNAN)
headed a very mixed class, but was a clear winner for me, but to be critical I would like a bit more of him all round. He is an ultra-true mover, holding an excellent outline. Very well presented with a balanced headpiece with a clean & expressive eye, well set ears, the best & tightest of feet with the cleanest pasterns of the class. I note his litter sister took the equivalent class later in the day;
2nd CASSAPPLE KENTUCKY DREAM AT MELTAROSE (MRS E ROWLINSON)
not quite the tailset nor strength pastern of the winner, with some presentation issues hidden in the coat. He did, however, score in forehand, depth of body, is well ribbed & uses his forehand to extend in front. He moved true both ways;
3rd TIVERSTONE THOMAS RIVERS (MRS D & MRS J CUMMINGS & BARTLEY)

Graduate - Dog Entries: 4 Absentees: 1
1st MOMPESSON ROYAL DREAMER (MRS R & MR M TWILLEY)
headed a class of compromise. I felt that this winner scored in topline with exceptionally good feet, if a touch broader than ideal in backskull for me & I also felt his tailset & tail carriage too high. He was, however, very well muscled & moved true on the up & down;
2nd MEONSTOKE HAWTHORN (MRS K C TAUBMAN)
I preferred the head shape & balance on this dog, but he has a tendency to roach his topline both stood & on the move in profile & was splaying his feet badly today. I felt that he also needed to body up & grown into himself, but was sound both ways, showing some reach in profile too;
3rd PETRANELLA JUBILEE JESTER (MISS J CHARLTON)

Post Graduate - Dog Entries: 11 Absentees: 1
1st MELVERLY DESERT STRIKE OVER ACREGATE JW SHCM (MISS J TRACZ)
he headed a very good final line-up from a very mixed class in terms of quality, just edging out another excellent dog in second spot. This juvenile scores in headpiece with a smashing eye shape & expression, he also has good overall balance, but I feel that his best is yet to come, as he still needs to fully mature in body & muscle. He holds a very good topline both on the stack & in profile showing accuracy & extension, if a touch proud of his tail today
2nd TIVERSTONE CHORISTER BOY (MR M J & MRS J V SHOVEL)
totally different type of head here, but it appealed to me immensely, so kind an eye & he is so very well put together, he has a better tail carriage than the winner, but not quite so tidy in the feet department as 1. I liked his outline & he maintained this at all times, stood & in motion. Very well balanced throughout, a good dog

1st BERESFORD SPECIAL DELIVERY (MRS T E TOPLISS)
this dog & the second in this numerically strong class really stood away from the rest for me. I absolutely loved this dog, he is totally new to me, & I found him almost impossible to fault. His head is masculine, balanced & not overdone in any way, with good chiselling, clean cheeks & a kind expressive correctly shaped almond eye. He is so very well proportioned, so strong in body with such a firm & compact loin, perfect topline, lovely angles both ends, & the perfect tailset, carriage & usage. He is so good through the neck & shoulders, he has lovely width & depth in front, he simply flows from end to end. On the move he was perfection, & I was delighted to award him what I was later told is his 2nd CC & a well deserved BOB, putting up a spectacular performance for this lovely breed in the gundog group later in the day too;
2nd CALVDALE ZERO TO HERO JW SHCM (MR & MRS M CALVERT)
close up to the winner, he too has that super flow from end to end, perhaps just slightly longer cast, but so very balanced throughout. Many of the remarks above apply to this boy too, he just needs a touch more time to fully mature. His headpiece, although different to the winner, appealed immensely. I was seriously considering this dog for the RCC, but he was quite determined that it was not to be his day in the final challenge, a pity;

1st SH CH/IR SH CH MEADOWDALE CHAOS JW SHCM (MR S & MRS J EYEINGTON)
like the last class, this dog & the second stood away for me. They are vastly different types, but both with so much to offer the breed. This winner scored for me in balance, his classic head & his ultra-true action coming & going, if to be critical a touch reserved in profile & reach today. His presents a very strong outline, is firm in topline, deep in forechest, he has broad thighs, excellent tight feet & was in tip-top muscled condition with a correctly set tail & good carriage. I was delighted to award him the RCC;
2nd SH CH PEASBLOSSOM JESTER (MR & MRS D MITCHELL)
a most impressive dog from any angle, he also flows from head to toe. He scores for me in balance, in depth & in outline, he too has a strong level topline, a firm & compact loin with good tailset & carriage & with just the right amount of bone. His headpiece, however, is not my personal taste, just a touch perhaps too elegant but saying that, it is most definitely balanced, masculine & has lots of chiselling with a dark & expressive eye. He is the most impressive mover in profile action out-performing the winner but today was not quite as accurate coming & going. Little separated these two super dogs, & I am sure that their many virtues will appeal to different judges on different days

1st SH CH TRIMERE TALKING POINT OF ALLENIE JW (MR A C & MR R P ALLEN & BOTT)
such an appealing head with the best of expressions. In superb condition for his age, I think that I prefer him now than when I judged him as a younger dog some years ago. He makes a good shape both stacked on the move, where he really excelled today;
2nd MOMPESSON SWEET REVENGE (MRS M HYDON)
in great physical condition for her age, with a feminine & balanced headpiece, if not quite the neck & shoulder of the winner;
3rd CHERISHYM BRIGHT STAR JW (MR P & MRS Y RICHARDSON & TERRY-RICHARDSON)

moving out well today & in excellent condition and good jacket, just a touch too strong in head for my personal taste.

Minor Puppy - Bitch Entries: 4 Absentees: 2
1st CRACKERJANNE PENELOPE CRUZ (MRS C M WOODBRIDGE)
two quality youngsters here, but this winner was much more together. She has the most exquisitely feminine head, lovely flowing outline with great depth for her age. She has lovely tight feet, excellent flexibility to pasterns, perfect tailset & carriage. To be critical, I hope that her eye darkens a touch, but she is brimming full of potential & should do really well with maturity;
2nd WATERSWARREN WISH LIST (MR P D & MRS V L WARRENER)
similar remarks apply to this one, another classic headpiece, she just needs time, & to gain that extra bit of confidence on the move.

1st PEASBLOSSOM OPHELIA (MR & MRS D & MR K MITCHELL & PAYNE)
lots to like here, extremely well bodied for her 11 months, in fact, a great make & shape. I liked her headpiece & her expression, keen, alert & intelligent. She impressed me for depth, excellent muscletone & really lovely width across the hips, lacking in so many here today. The tightest of feet & the easiest of movers. She outmoved the dog pup in the challenge to take a well deserved BP, & followed that up with a lovely PG3 position too, well done!

1st FLAMING WHIRLWIND OF MEADOWDALE (MR S & MRS J EYEINGTON)
a mature bitch who has lots of appeal. She scored for me in head shape & eye. I really liked her flow of neck into shoulder, her depth & rib, her style & her substance. She has good bone & tight feet, a very good tailset & carriage. On the move she has an easy ground covering action & is ultra-true both ways. RCC
2nd CARLYQUINN MAMA MIA (MRS H COKELL)
not quite the maturity in body as the winner, but this one also had a super flowing outline, very easy on the eye. I found her slightly stronger in head, but she is brimming full of quality. Once she fully springs her rib & fills her frame she will trouble the best. I liked her a lot;

1st TRIMERE TA DAH ( MRS A HILL)
this youngster really stole my heart & appealed greatly. I absolutely loved her classically feminine headpiece, & her intelligent, expressive eye. She has that lovely flowing outline, good for neck & shoulders, & once stood correctly, a very firm topline too, with perfect tailset & carriage. She is very good on the move & was shortlisted for the CC, I just felt that she needs to really spring her rib & fill her frame, & is one that I would definitely like to see in a year or so when I think she will really trouble the best;

this bitch has everything to like & shows style & elegance, without being overdone in any way. I liked her head & expression, flow of neck into well laid shoulders, her depth & body, a firm topline & correctly set tail. On the move she covers the ground easily, & I shortlisted her for the CC, where she was very close-up;
2nd CELGARN NEXT CHAPTER WITH MELKAMI (MR J W, MRS M J, MISS A C & MISS K J HUGHES)
another good one here, she presents a good outline stood & moved with purpose & drive holding her topline. She was ultra-true both ways, & was shown in good coat & condition

1st ROQFOLLY BORN TO BOOGIE (Mrs D & Mrs C LAWLER)
her headpiece, although perhaps not classic, really appealed to me, & I found her balanced in flew to backskull, her expression so intelligent & so very captivating. She flows from head to tail, is compact in body with good depth, strong in topline, ultra firm in loin, she has super tight feet & lovely flexibility in her pasterns. On the move, once her handler got her going she really did cover the ground with such ease, & was very true coming & going. She simply took my eye & I was delighted to award her the CC
2nd ROQFOLLY MISS MONEYPENNY JW (MS D EASTWOOD)
I spotted this bitch as a puppy when competing against her in group competition, & I liked her then & was delighted to see her today & to see that she has matured into a bitch of great promise. A different headpiece to the winner, also appealing but in a different way. Very similar remarks apply to this one from the same kennel, she has lots of appeal, is full of breed type & pushed the winner all the way. I just felt today that she just didn’t have quite the easy flow or accuracy on the move as the winner;

she is good to go over & presents a strong outline stood. She is well ribbed, has a dark eye, excellent bone with tight feet & was in hard, well muscled condition. She is clean from hock to toe. On the move with the right handler she came to life & showed good profile reach & driv
2nd CRO CH TRIMERE TOUGH COOKIE (MISS S J CORBETT)
a different type of head on this well made bitch. She was well bodied, is compact & well muscled, not quite as settled or as accurate on the move today. I am sure that these two bitches will change places, as they both have many positives to offer the breed;
