I sincerely thank the committee of the South Western English Springer Spaniel Association for the invitation to judge your Open Show. I thoroughly enjoyed my day, with a wonderful warm atmosphere and excellent hospitality. Overall, I appreciated the sporting manner in which exhibitors accepted my decisions, with few exceptions. Breed type overall was very good, with most being a lovely size, with correct balance and proportions. On the day, one would have hoped for a ring that enabled dogs to move out more as opposed to the confines of a small indoor arena. Nevertheless, I was very pleased with my winners. My best dog and bitch would be welcome at 'Sandicam' anyday. Thankyou again and I wish all breeders every success with your Springers.
Minor Puppy Dog (2)
1st. Furness' Shelcasrie Flint
A black and white youngster of pleasing type and balance. Very good proportions. Head piece well developed for his age, with a sweet expression.
Moved soundly.
2nd Lewis' Dexbenella Dancing Brave
A liver and white that lacked the body and maturity of the winner. Lacking front and rear quarters. His proportions are correct, however he needs to come
on considerably in terms of size and substance.
Puppy Dog (3)
1st Millers' Feorlig Ice N' Fire
A liver and white of good type. He is a super size and has correct proportions. His front and rear angles are balanced which he used to best advantage on the move in the ring. Pleased to award him BPIS
2nd Weymans' Donarden Trailblazer for Spuffing
A liver and white with well developed quarters, not quite the balance of one. Longer cast overall.
3rd Lewis' Dexbenella Dancing Brave
Junior Dog (5)
1st Walkers' Dexbenella Its About Time
A very stylish liver, white and tan dog of good type. Loved his proportions, size and substance. His head is pleasing although I would prefer a darker eye which would soften his expression. He has good quarters, but would prefer more forequarter angulation. This in turn would give him a little more
extension on the move. A credit to his handler on the day who showed him in lovely, gleaming condition.
2nd Dunsdon & Woodbridges' Seaspring Shipwrecked
A liver and white of good type. Well developed quarters. He has a particularly pleasing head that is well chiselled with good length. Would prefer less length in the loin and a slightly stronger top line on the move.
3rd Fosters' Petranella Bombay Bad Boy for Shanoah
4th Warbricks' Lyndberry Lightning Star
5th Lewis' Dexbenella Dancing Brave
Special Yearling Dog (5)
1st Cokells' Trimere Transition to Carlyquinn JW
A very typical liver and white with lovely overall shape and balance. His front and rear quarters are balanced which allowed for a lovely action while
still holding his topline. Head piece is pleasing with correct length and chiselling. His head and expression gave him the edge in this class.

Post Graduate Dog (2, 1a)
1st Jacksons' Mompesson Royal Classic
Although this dog stood alone in the class, he caught my eye the moment he came into the ring. A lovely type, of correct size and spot on proportions. He
has moderate quarters and a hard topline which he held on the move. He had by far the sexiest bum on the day and his power and drive was second to none! His head needs to develop however time is on his side. Lovely expression with a gorgeous eye. A lovely dog overall, pleased to award him Reserve Best Dog.
Limit Dog (5,1a)
1st Jacksons' Mompesson Cavendish
A gorgeous liver and white dog of excellent breed type. He immediately caught my eye with his super outline and outstanding front and rear quarters.
Loved his head type, with a sweet eye and correct length overall. Correct reach of neck which flowed beautifully into his well placed shoulders. Excellent lay back of upper arm. Well developed hindquarters, well let down with lovely, short rear pasterns. Correctly textured coat. His stylish shape and correct movement won him Best Dog and Runner Up in Show.
2nd Millers' Roqfolly Aftershock at Feorlig
Another very pleasing dog of very good type and correct proportions. More moderate overall in comparison to number 1. Head piece is pleasing however would prefer more length. Front and rear angles are balanced which was evident on the move. Handled to best advantage
3rd Shovels' Tiverstone Kingston Black
4th Hobbs' Whitebrook Lord of the Rings
Open Dog (2, 2a)
Veteran Dog (5, 2a)
1st Reynolds' Clentonian Masterpiece
A liver and white of good type, with correct proportions. Loved the overall balance and quarters of this old man. He is a heavier style of dog all through and is clearly in a good paddock at the moment.
2nd Mitchells' Heulyn Flambeau
Another pleasing old man with a shapely, stylish outline and of a good type. Good quarters, front and rear. Lost out today on his topline and croup on the move.

Minor Puppy Bitch (1)
1st Woodbridges' Crackerjanne Call Me Madam
A liver and white of pleasing type, although she is longer cast than ideal. She has adequate quarters and in particular is well let down behind.
Puppy Bitch (3)
1st Weymans' Donarden Sweet Sensation at Spuffing
A typical liver and white bitch, with balanced quarters. Pleasing head type with good length. She held a good topline on the move and went soundly.
2nd Woodbridges' Crackerjanne Call Me Madam
3rd Millers' Feorlig Impossible Dream
Junior Bitch (7, 1a)
1st Cunliffes' Calvdale My Girl at Fallenleaf JW
A very pretty liver and white tri who won the class on her excellent type, balance and correct proportions. She is moderate throughout. A sweet headed bitch, she has a lovely expression and lovely eye shape. She moved really well on the surface and carried herself exceptionally well with strong topline and good foot placement. Very pleased to award her Reserve Best Bitch.
2nd Corbetts' Trimere Touch Of Black
A quality black and white of very good type. Really liked her overall shape. Balanced quarters. She has lovely legs and feet. Would have preferred her to be in firmer condition.
3rd Mitchells' Peasblossom Embrace
4th Mitchells' Petranella Penny Lane
5th Walkers' Dexbenella Inquisitress
Special Yearling Bitch (4)
1st Jacksons' Mompesson Elegance
A lovely liver and white bitch of excellent type. She is a great size and again, has a lovely short underline. Love the length of leg under this bitch also. Would have liked to do more for her on the day, but she needed to carry herself with more confidence. Her other excellent qualities made her the class winner.
2nd Cokells' Carlyquinn Classic Line JW
Another pleasing liver and white bitch of very good type. Not quite the proportions of number one. She has a very lovely head piece with a sweet expression.
3rd Chesters' Trimere Test Of Time
4th Walkers' Dexbenella Inquisitress

Post Graduate Bitch (5, 3a)
1st Mitchells' Barecho Qualified To Show with Peasblossom JW
This liver and white presents an impressive picture when stood. Appreciated her for her super angulation and for her head type. Her proportions however tend toward the long and low which took away from a more classic outline.
2nd Joyces' Shelcasrie Lovers Leap
A balanced liver and white bitch of pleasing type. Balanced quarters, with correct proportions. Could use more length of neck and more width of second thigh.
Limit Bitch (3, 1a)
1st Jacksons' Mompesson Celebrity
A quality bitch of lovely type. Super substance, depth and body which in the end gave her the edge in this class. Balanced and correct moderate quarters, pleasing head. Excellent legs and feet. She was in taut condition which was another advantage for her on the day.
2nd Corbetts' Trimere Tantrums And Tiaras
A bitch of very pleasing overall type, she excels in head, eye and expression. Whilst I quite liked her proportions overall, she needs more fill the whole way through and needs more length from hip to tail to improve her hindquarter assembly.
Open Bitch (3)
1st Guests' Robil Greta Garbo
A liver and white of pleasing type. Overall, her height to length ratio gives her a definite Springer stamp! Her head piece is quite typical however I would prefer a kinder eye. The overall balance of this bitch won her the class.
2nd Shovels' Tiverstone Dreammaker
A black and white of pleasing type. Her quarters are balanced. A little more daylight underneath this bitch would improve her overall balance and proportions.
3rd Williams & Toublics' Cobhay Bright Fuchsia
Veteran Bitch (3,2a)
1st Walkers' Sh Ch Trimere Total Devotion to Dexbenella JW ShCM
I’d call her gorgeous! This old lady took my eye the moment she entered the ring for her outstanding breed type and overall quality. Her outline was spot on for me, being moderate through with good substance. Her head piece, although starting to show her age, was correctly chiselled with femeninity and she has a fabulous expression. Well let down in quarters, she owned the ring on the go round and today was shown in lovely coat and condition. Congratulations to her owner handler for having her look so well for her age. On the day, she had the edge over the dog on maturity.- and I was delighted to award her BIS - I’d take her home in a heart beat!
