Firstly I would like to thank SWKA for the opportunity to award CC’s in my chosen breed & secondly thank you to all the exhibitors who entered under me on my 1st appointment.
Whilst I was very pleased numerically with my entry, I was disappointed with the depth of quality in the breed. I wasn’t going to write an overview, but on reflection I think I have to.
What is happening to our lovely breed & where is all the depth of quality we used to have? I know entries are falling, but that shouldn’t mean the level of quality has to, but in my opinion, it appears it is.
Let’s start with “symmetrically built, compact, strong, merry & active” then “friendly, happy disposition, biddable”. I felt many exhibits lacked these desired attributes, dogs moving with their back ends low to the ground or with their tails clamped.
Where have all the beautiful, classic heads & dark eyes gone? Light eyes have always been around but are becoming more common, as are round eyes, both untypical & ruining the expression we require.
“Sloping shoulders & well laid” this desired element is also starting to disappear with upright shoulders creeping in, reducing the length of neck we require.
Having said all of the above, I was happy with all of my principle winners & was thrilled to hear my BOB went on to win Group 2 in fabulous company, well done.

1ST EASTFALLA NEXT STEP (MS D & MR S EASTWOOD & TRUEMAN) . Delightful 6 month old young man. Correct size for his age, good bone & feet, eye still needs to darken but that’s not unusual at this age. Well ribbed, straight front & good length of neck. Smart, stylish & confident mover for one so young. I loved him & could have taken him home. BPD & BP

1ST TIVERSTONE STATESMAN AT STORMERICK (MR J, MRS J & MISS J MERRICK) 9 mth boy with an abundance of gleaming B/W coat. Standing on well boned legs & correct feet. Dark eyes as one would expect, correct head planes but I felt head still needs to break. Little erratic on the move, hopefully will tighten with maturity.

Junior - Dog

1ST TIGERROCK SUPER TED (MR D & MISS G THOMAS) Stood alone, low on legs & long in body so not the required balanced look I would hope for. In good liver coat & moved ok.

1ST BERESFORD NIGHT TRAIN (MRS T E TOPLISS) 20mth old L/W young man, who was up to size for me. Correct head, eye still needs to darken off, although correct shape. lovely bone & feet, straight front, well ribbed & moved with some style & purpose, which placed him above 2nd.
2ND EASTRIDING DECLARATION (MRS K JENKINSON) 2yr old B/W slightly longer cast & lighter in bone than 1. I preferred his head, with his dark eye & typical expression, straight front, well laid shoulders, I’m sure these 2 will swap places many times.

1ST BERESFORD BLACK TIE (MRS T E TOPLISS) Upstanding B/W, with balanced outline & in good coat & condition. Masculine head, although, for me, his eye shape could be better, correct ear set & good length of neck, into well laid shoulders. Best mover in the class, considered in the challenge.
2ND PLAIGLEN BEATERS BTRUE (MS F & MRS E GLENDINNING & BOOLE) Smaller framed than 1 but still appealed & everything in the right place. Good length of neck, into well laid shoulders. Straight front & well-muscled rear end. Another in excellent coat & condition, close call between 1st & 2nd.

1ST SH CH MELVERLY BUONA NOTTE (MR R J SMITH) Well made & fully matured Male. Not in his best jacket today, however his shape & quality won him this class. Masculine head piece, eye dark enough, to give that expression I was looking for. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, well sprung ribs, short coupled strong loin, standing on well boned legs & tight feet. Im sure he has more CC’s to come, but today he had to settle for the RCC.
2ND SH CH ART-WAVES STANDING OVATION FOR ALLENIE (IMP SWE) (MR R P & MRS C BOTT & SAVELL) . I was looking forward to seeing this boy today & getting my hands on him. Smaller framed male & being critical a tad long for me. Head not as masculine as winners, but acceptable & eye could be darker. Well ribbed, good bone & feet, well presented, not as true in front movement as 1.

1ST SH CH PLAIGLEN HUSTLE (MS F GLENDINNING) Stood alone, but have never seen him look better! Correct size, in fabulous coat & condition, he did not look his age today. Masculine head, dark eye & melting expression. Straight front, correct angulation front & rear, tail well set. Short coupled & level topline which he kept on the move, & boy did he move! No flash & dash here, straight as an arrow coming & going & the correct reach & drive for the breed in profile. A credit to his owner in keeping him in this condition. Deservedly won the CC today, preferred the ring presence of the bitch in the Challenge for BOB.

1ST ROQFOLLY ENDEAVOUR FOR ARTYCREATH (MRS C HOLMAN) . VHC in Limit, correct sized L/W tri, in good coat & condition, but not shown or moved to advantage. Masculine head, eye a tad light, but can be expected in a Tri. Short coupled & level topline.

1ST CARMEN MIRANDA BUXUSSON (IMP CZ) (MR C STOBBIE) ), aptly named young L/W lady, who in maturity, I am sure will carry her crown! The most delightful, well worked, feminine head & expression, excellent length of neck into well laid shoulders, a tad long in hock, however her profile movement was spot on. Lost in the puppy challenge as I preferred the body of the dog. BPB

1ST TIVERSTONE PETIT MUSCAT (MR M J & MRS J V SHOVEL) B/W who still needs to come upon her legs. In glorious coat & condition, another with a sweet feminine head, dark eye as you would expect. Another stood on well boned, straight legs & correct feet. A little lose on the move at the moment, hopefully will tighten with age.
2ND TIVERSTONE LADYS DELIGHT (MRS J I KIBBY) . Litter sister to 1 & simular attributes, well made, but I’d prefer more length of neck & for her to come up on her legs. Adequate bone for a bitch, another youngster in good bloom & condition, I am sure these 2 will swap places on another day

1ST BERESFORD NIGHT CLASS (MRS T E TOPLISS) Ultra feminine L/W bitch. Her eyes still need to darken off to complete a great head piece. Good bone & feet, well ribbed, short coupled with a great back end, which she used to advantage on the move.
2ND KINGSHEATH TOTAL DIVA AT FELLTOPS (MRS S L & MR N J JOYCE) Different type to 1 & a bit heavier all through. Shown in good coat & condition, down on her pasterns & a bit too much flew for me.

1ST HOLLIVERA'S VERONA WITH EASTRIDING (IMP SWE) (MRS K JENKINSON) L/W tri bitch who caught my on entering the ring. Correct size & of a type I like. Feminine head, dark enough eye of correct shape. Correct bone, good angulation front & rear, with good width to 2nd thigh. Strong arched neck, into well laid shoulders. Considered for top honours.
2ND KENNAIR I AM I SAID (MR K T & MRS C M GREEN) Different type of bitch to winner & just lacking coat today. However she still had enough quality for me to look past this. Another standing on good legs & feet, feminine head, with a dark, almond shaped eye. Good length of neck, straight front, well ribbed & short strong loin. Another true mover

1ST SH CH TRIMERE TICKET MAID (MISS S J CORBETT) & “made for tickets” she is. A lovely bitch from any angle, balanced & “right up my street”. Although not yet 3, she is already blooming with maturity. She has a sweet feminine head, eye could still darken off a shade, well feathered ears set in line with the eyes, strong arched neck into well laid shoulders. Straight front, good feet & bone, short coupled & with the desired “round bum” I was looking for. Presented to perfection as one would expect from this kennel. Moved with such fluidity, could not be denied the CC or BOB. Thrilled to hear she later went on to Group 2 in great company.
2ND KENNAIR LIKE A DIAMOND (MR K T & MRS C M GREEN) . B/W bitch of a different type to 1, but so full of quality. Dark eye, well worked head, strong neck into well laid shoulders, moderate rear angulation, moved correctly & presented in tip top condition.

1ST SH CH/IR SH CH CALVDALE MY GIRL OF FALLENLEAF JW SHCM (MR G & MRS J CUNLIFFE) . An 8 year old bitch who no one seems to have told! It’s no secret I have admired this bitch before, she is so full of quality & a credit to her owner for keeping her in such fabulous condition. She is so feminine from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail, which did not stop wagging. She stood on the best of legs & feet, correct angulation front & rear, well ribbed, short coupled & a cracking bum! Covered the ring with such ease & poise, despite the change of handler. Close up for the CC but could not be denied the RCC.
